Aquaman gets the "Most Fun" award for this issue as you'll see below. Both the Sam Spade ad and The Shining Knight get new artists, in the latter case, Ruben Moreira. Some nice dan barry art on JQuick and Smokey Bear meets Peter Porkchops in the PSA at the back.

Adventure Comics # 143, August, 1949
We're in a good period right now. Lots of fun covers and equally fun stories inside. Even the ads are cool. This issue has a cool Superman PSA, also, but then there's a horrible reminder that not all was great with childhood in 1949. Infantile Paralysis was still a major threat to you and your friends. Polio.

Adventure 142, July, 1949
Not a particularly solid cover but another very solid issue with the Aquaman story being a highlight. Shining Knight is present as are the cool comics ads from Captain Tootsie and RC and Quickie!

Adventure Comics # 141, June, 1949
Another good solid issue featuring an early one of the gazillion stories in which Superboy loses his powers. We're in a period of solid if unspectacular art on the remaining features with the exception of the now-you-see-him-now-you-don't-adventures of THE SHINING KNIGHT. The SAM SPADE ad is again the best comics art in the issue and, hey, even Bob Feller is back!

Adventure Comics # 140, May, 1949
Another actual tie-in cover. This is a fun if scientifically wonky story that no doubt enthralled readers of the day.
Yet another baseball player appearance in an ad. Baseball was really big in the post-war world! Interesting in this case as it's Stan "the Man" Musial whose nickname would later be co-opted by DC's biggest rival, Stan Lee at Marvel.
