It's not Jonathan this time but Jor-El in another entertaining bit of retconning that will simply be never mentioned again. I'd love to see someone sometime make an effort at piecing together the complex story of what happened to get Kal-El to Earth from Krypton from all of these one-off Weisinger stories. Well not exactly these because this one turns out to be a trick but you know what I mean.

Adventure Comics # 237, June 1957
Yet another wacky Swan cover. Note the ad this ish for SGT BILKO as DC has now, in 1957, firmly accepted the fact that TV is here to stay and radio was, in fact, just a passing fad that took a long time to pass.

Adventure Comics # 236, May, 1957
Seems like we just had a "Pa Kent gets super powers" story, didn't we? Well, here's another. This time Jonathan Kent becomes Strongman, as drawn by John Sikela (with a cover by Swan/Kaye depicting him as slightly more svelte than in the story).
This May issue was on the stands in March so DC makes good on its promise to list contest winners in the issues on sale in March. Well...some anyway. See the chart below. Check he list out, too. You might (or might not) see some names you recognize!

Adventure Comics # 235, April, 1957
Aquaman is still acting stupid, GA still thinks he's batman and Superboy's identity is revealed for one of the seven millionth times. Ho-hum. At east we're told that the winners of the Slogan Contest will be available soon!
