Adventure Comics # 148, January, 1950

Nothing to see here. More of the same. Move along.

Adventure Comics # 147, December, 1949

Okay, now that's one of the oddest Superboy covers yet. Part of me thinks it was just an excuse to show a pretty girl with nice legs on the cover.

Chew gum, get a weapon. Ah, those more innocent times.

Cowboy star Tom Mix had been dead for years by this point but that never stopped the merchandising.

Good news? Yes. I suppose. But not like Batman and Robin fans didn't already know this.

                                                                GA gets his own PSA!

Adventure Comics # 146, November, 1949

The ever-popular Superboy (or Superman) rescuing a cat from a tree image.

DC was really pushing radio tie-in comics and/or celebrity comics. Note ALAN LADD ADVENTURES below.

Artist Ralph Mayo takes over on JOHNNY QUICK. The very young Frank Frazetta worked with Mayo for "several years" and that may be what put him in the vicinity when another new artist was needed for THE SHINING KNIGHT not far in the future here.

Adventure Comics # 145, October, 1949

Hate to sound like a rerun but here's another fun issue with nice art all around, particularly on THE SHINING KNIGHT!

Adventure Comics # 144, September, 1949

Aquaman gets the "Most Fun" award for this issue as you'll see below. Both the Sam Spade ad and The Shining Knight get new artists, in the latter case, Ruben Moreira. Some nice dan barry art on JQuick and Smokey Bear meets Peter Porkchops in the PSA at the back.
